Welcome to Making Health A Priority Podcast

Episode transcript:

Kelly:
Welcome to Making Health a Priority. I’m Kelly Moore. This podcast explores the many facets of true wellness through honest conversations, practical insight,
and real life experiences. We are going to share some laughs, maybe even a few tears, all while learning how to live healthier and more intentionally. Now,
let’s get into today’s episode.
I wanted the very first episode to just be me. No guests, no interviews, just
sharing why this podcast even exists and how it came to be. This podcast did not start as a plan or even a business idea.
It started from my own life experiences and from a season that changed me in ways I never expected.
I’ve always cared about my health deeply. And I’ve spent years learning,
researching, and trying to take care of myself and my family the best I can. But there was a point where I realized even
though I cared about health, I wasn’t actually well. And looking back now, I can see there were warning signs long
before my body finally said enough before I got really sick. I remember
having a very clear moment where I felt God gently telling me to stop, to slow
down, to stop pushing myself so hard and to really look at some things in my life more honestly. And I ignored it, of
course. I kept going. I kept pushing. I told myself I could handle it. And I’m sure there’s others out there who could relate.
And I told myself I’d just rest later,
that right now wasn’t the time to slow down. And eventually everything caught up with me. There was a point where I
completely fell apart physically and mentally. And I remember those days being some of the hardest that I have
ever walked through. I remember nights where I would be up taking care of my baby just crying and begging God to heal
me. truly begging him, like down on my knees. And deep down, I knew that I had pushed myself to that place. I knew that
for years, I hadn’t dealt with things that were weighing heavy on my mind and my heart and my shoulders. Instead, I
just stuffed them down. I tried to be perfectly happy, perfectly fine. I kept acting like everything was okay, but eventually that catches up with you.
That season didn’t just pass quickly. It affected me for years. And as painful as it was, looking back now, I honestly
wouldn’t change what happened. That season taught me lessons I don’t think anything else could. And I’ve learned so
many so many important lessons. I’m closer to God now than I have ever been.
I understand how important boundaries are. I understand how emotional,
spiritual, and physical well-being are all deeply connected. And I understand now how the body holds on to stress and
3 minutes, 17 seconds
emotions that we try so hard to keep hidden. I learned that health isn’t just about what you eat or how you move your
3 minutes, 25 seconds
body. It’s about how you live, how you handle stress, how you show up in your relationships, how much you carry
without ever giving yourself space to process it.
Sometimes healing doesn’t start with doing more. Sometimes it starts with finally stopping and actually paying attention.
This podcast exists because I wanted a space to talk about health in a fuller,
more honest way. Not just the physical side, but the emotional, the mental, the relational, and the spiritual layers
that are all connected. a place where we can talk about real life, about what happens when we ignore those layers and
what it looks like to gently come back into balance. This isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about learning.
It’s about growing and being willing to have the honest conversations along the way.
This podcast is not medical advice,
although I will be having some doctors on. It’s not about perfection and it’s not about pretending. It is about honest conversations,
practical insight, and real life exactly as it is. There will be learning, there will be growth, and yes, there will be some laughs and sometimes even tears.
So, if you’re wondering who this podcast is really for, this podcast is for anyone who knows there’s more to health than just doing all the right things.
For anyone who’s been pushing for a long time and feels like something inside of them is asking for attention.
If you care about your health, but you’re tired of surface level answers,
quick fixes, or pretending everything is fine, then this space is for you. My
hope is that this podcast becomes a place where you feel encouraged to pause, to listen, and to take care of
yourself in a more intentional way. Your health matters. Every part of it. Thank you so much for being here. I truly mean
that. If this episode connected with you or gave you something to think about, I would love for you to subscribe, share
it with someone who might need to hear it, and comment in the section below if there’s any topic that you would like to
hear more about. Please join me for the next episode on making health a priority.
